Tain is a town (population approx 4,000) in the Ross and Cromarty area, close to the scenic Dornoch Firth. The town boasts a number of attractions including Glenmorangie distillery and Balblair distillery. It also has a range of pubs and restaurants. Inverness is roughly a 45 minute drive south (via the A9). The town is also served by a station on the Inverness to Thurso Railway line.
