Elgin is large town in Moray and forms the main population and administrative centre for the area. The town is well served with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is relatively close to the scenic beaches of the Moray Firth coastline and is home to the interesting and historically significant ruins of Elgin Cathedral. The town is also the base for Moray College UHI. It has good road links west to Inverness, roughly an hour’s drive (via the A96), and east to Aberdeen, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes (via the A96). It also has a station on the Inverness to Aberdeen Railway line.
